Professional Experience
Mr. Murphy has over 40 years of experience in public and private accounting. Prior to entering public accounting in 1974, he was an administrative assistant and financial analyst. He joined Peterson Sullivan in 1979, became a partner in 1984, and in 1986 Don became partner of the Tax Department. Don has been a regular instructor for the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Continuing Education Program.
Don’s specialties include:
- Federal and state tax planning for business and investment acquisition, development, and disposition.
- US corporate investment in foreign business.
- Real estate investment and development tax issues.
- Estate, gift, trust, and charitable tax planning and compliance.
- Tax issues relating to nonprofit corporations.
- Deferred compensation planning and compliance.
