SEATTLE, Wa. – The words “accounting” and “paperless” usually solicit a skeptical “sigh” when used in the same sentence – even in green-conscience Seattle. But the IT team at Peterson Sullivan LLP (a large accounting firm practicing predominantly in the Pacific Northwest) is leading the way in paper conservation with the latest “green” technology. Their IT infrastructure accommodates 200 percent data growth annually, and most importantly, all of that data is protected and stored safely.
This month, Peterson Sullivan’s IT Manger, Cody Page, is featured in “Protecting a Paperless Office,” an informational case study conducted by Dell. The tech-focused article ran on Dell’s EqualLogic Customer Spotlight web site, highlighting the challenges of safely moving towards a paperless office.
The article was prompted by a series of webinars that Dell hosted in September. Page was featured as an expert speaker.
Dell’s case study focuses on “accommodating 200 percent data growth by creating a consolidated yet scalable IT infrastructure” and protecting “data with reliable, easy-to-manage backup and disaster recovery strategies that are integrated with virtualized servers.”
Translation: “Our clients send us hundreds of documents every day – both paper and electronic. Ultimately, all of that data has to be scanned or entered into our system and it’s IT’s job to manage and protect it. Peterson Sullivan’s IT department uses a combination of products and tools, including those stated in the case study, to make this data always available to our clients and staff. Even in the most disastrous situation such as a full system failure or a fire, recovery would be fast and secure,” says Page.
Although this was a multiyear project, Page and his IT team used Dell’s technology (VMware software, Dell PowerEdge, and Dell EqualLogic) to make unprecedented improvements to the firm’s efficiency. Their choice applications facilitate everything from capturing client data to routing work through the 100+ employee office.
