day in the life of a tax associate

We checked in with Scot Sweeney and Paige Wakasugi to get the scoop on a typical day for a Tax staffer:

8:00 a.m. Check email and other updates.  Respond to inquiries and touch base with Managers regarding with today’s projects.

9:00 a.m. Tax Department Meeting to discuss current and outstanding issues and to reallocate work where needed.

10:00 a.m. Prepare workpapers for corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns.

12:00 p.m. Lunch on your own, with co-worers, or with candidates in the interview process

1:00 p.m. Input client data from the workpapers and draft tax returns.  Once completed, review the draft return and compare with prior year for inconsistencies. 

2:30 p.m. Clear points and questions from previous returns.

3:30 p.m. Research tax questions and changes in code. Study for the CPA Exam during down time.

5:00 p.m. Review for tomorrow’s meetings and returns.

After work – Networking, socializing, or attending WSCPA events
